UTPA BroncBusters - Natalie Haime

Oct. 3, 2006

1. How do you feel about your younger sister playing alongside with you here at UTPA?
NH - I absolutely love it! Aside from the fact that she gets to live with me and I don't feel so far from home, it makes the game a lot more fun playing with family

2. How do you feel being the only senior on the team? Is it more pressure to be a role model to the younger players?
NH - I didn't think about that until this year. I looked up to the seniors last year more than they realized it, and since I am now realizing it I'm now trying to lead by example and be a role model for the team.

3. Had you always played golf or did you begin once you entered high school?
NH - I started playing golf mid-way through high school when I was about 15. I was a big basketball player for the longest time.

4. What do you feel is the hardest part about playing golf at the collegiate level?
NH - My game is drastically different when I'm at home playing in Canada and when I'm playing here. I put a lot of pressure on myself to play well.

5. What part of your game do you feel needs the most improvement?
NH - My mental game, I haven't played as well during my collegiate career.

6. What would you say is the strongest aspect of your game?
NH - My iron play. I'm a pretty strong iron player

7. Who had the most influence on you playing golf?
NH - My mother and father.

8. Being how golf is year-round, how do you find time to keep your GPA steady?
NH - The main part is time management. As long as you're not fooling around you're going to get work done. It's all about sacrificing. Your college career isn't going to be the same as the person sitting next to you.

9. If you know you're headed into a big tournament, how do you prepare yourself?
NH - I try to be as relaxed as possible. I try to focus on beating the golf course.

10. Who has been the greatest impact on your life outside of the golf course?
NH - I have to say my sister. Having her here has kept me grounded in many ways. She is a very focused person.

1. What were your first thoughts when you came to Texas?
NH - When I was first driving in south on 281 I drove by the prison and wondered what I just got myself into, but the minute I was on campus I absolutely loved it here. I loved the culture, the weather and the people. Everyone was just so nice, and I felt immediately home."

2. When was the first time you played golf?
NH - I would hack around with my dad when I was eight or nine.

3. What is the first thing you pack when you're going to hit the road?
NH - My toothbrush because I always forget it.

4. What are your first thoughts when you know that Thanksgiving or Christmas are right around the corner?
NH - Holiday... it's nice to get a break from golf and school.

5. What was the first event you sang the national anthem?
NH - At an Ottawa 67's game which is a junior hockey team back in Canada. There was about four to five thousand people in the stands. Here, it was at a volleyball game.

6. When was the last time your family got to see you play?
NH - My dad was caddying for me in a tournament back in Canada and I was the low round of the day. They've been down here sporadically, but they've never actually seen me in a tournament down here.

7. Where was the last place you told yourself you could never go back to?
NH - On the second hole at Los Lagos. It's the scorecard holder because there are spiders in it. I will go the entire round keeping score in my head instead of going over there.
