UTPA BroncBusters - Elizabeth Rodriguez

April 16, 2007

1. With golf being year-round, how do you manage to keep up with your studies and gain 3.0 laurels every semester?
ER - I stay ahead of class just because we miss out on class. After the fourth year you get used to it.

2. What would you say is the strongest aspect of your game?
ER - Putting - it can make you or break you

3. At what age did you begin playing golf?
ER - At the age of four, my dad would take me to an elementary school close by and I would hit balls out in the field.

4. How did you start off playing golf?
ER - I started with my dad; it was our bonding time. Instead of taking me to the park he would take me out to the golf course

5. What part of your game do you feel needs improvement?
ER - My bunker play. I lost confidence and I haven't really committed myself to practicing. I need to especially for our next tournament.

6. With Minority around the corner, what are your thoughts on this tournament?
ER - I've never been on a team that's lost. I look forward to a win and bringing back the title to this university.

7. With you redshirting last season, how did you feel at the beginning of the season as compared to now?
ER - In the fall I was nervous. I hadn't been in competition and it was the longest I had been out since I was 15-16 years old. I came in strong and then I got nervous again so it tampered with my game.

8. What is the concentration level when it comes to golf?
ER - It's very hard because you play 36 holes and you are out there 9-12 hours at a time. Staying focused is a challenge in itself. Being patient is the key.

ER - Be the best leader on the team as far as playing well and bringing out the best in everyone on the team
