The University of Texas-Pan American women's golf team finished in ninth place after three rounds of golf at the Islander Spring Classic on Tuesday (Feb. 26) in Corpus Christi, TX.
The Lady Broncs recorded a team score of 962 while Lamar University collected the tournament crown with a three-round score of 934 while Oral Roberts (937), host TAMUCC (950), University of Texas at San Antonio (950), McNeese State (955) rounded off the top five.
Elizabeth Rodriguez (Kingwood, TX/Kingwood H.S.) was the Lady Broncs top golfer finishing with a 54-hole score of 236 (77-77-82) for 16th place while Mariale Camey (Ciudad, Guatemala/Univ. of New Orleans) collected a 25th place showing with a three-round tally of 241 (81-76-84).
Bronwyn Sandberg (St. Albert, Alberta, Canada/Bellerose Composite) finished 39th overall with a three-round score of 245 (81-90-74) while newcomer Haley Hocott tied for 44th with a 54-hole tally of 248 (80-87-81) and Rebecca DeLeon (Mission, TX/Veterans Memorial H.S.) collected a 51st showing with a three-round score of 251 (83-82-86).
Individually Sara Garcia (Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico/Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School) collected a 52nd showing with a three-round tally of 253 (83-86-84) and Jennifer Marks (El Paso, TX/McLennan C.C.) finished 55th overall with a 54-hole score of 256 (88-87-81).
The Lady Broncs will be back in action on March 13-15 at the Gainesville Shootout III hosted by University of Florida in Gainesville, FL.
