Two Lady Broncs Earn All-Independent Post-Season Honors

Seniors LeKeisha Gray (Muskogee, OK/Butler County C.C.), and Tiona Wilson (Bradenton, FL/Southeast H.S.) represented The University of Texas-Pan American on the 2007-08 NCAA Division I All-Independent Women's Basketball Team, which was announced Thursday (Mar. 6).

Gray earned post-season All-Independent laurels for the second time in her career as she was selected as a second team award winner during the 2007-08 season and honorable mention recipient in the 2006-07 campaign.

The Lady Broncs guard started all 26 games for the Lady Broncs and scored in double-figures17 times, breaking the 20 point barrier eight times. Gray was selected as Independent Player of the Week on two occasions, earned MVP accolades at the Battle at the Border Tournament and was selected to the all-tournament team at the Flint Hills Islander Classic on (Dec. 16).

Gray imprinted her name in women's basketball history as she ranked first in minutes played with 1,796, seventh in steals with 114, and ninth in points scored in a season with 383. Gray is also one of the top three point shooters in the nation averaging 2.3 per game.

The UTPA junior ranked first on the Lady Broncs in field goal attempts, field goals made, three-point field goal attempts, three-point fields made, total points, scoring average, assists, assists per game, steals and steals per game.

Wilson was selected as an honorable mention All-Independent award winner and also earned a spot on the All-Academic All-Independent Team. Wilson finished her senior season averaging 7.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. Wilson recorded the highest single-season three-point field goal percentage in program history at .464 netting 45-of her 97 attempts.

The Lady Broncs finished the 2007-08 season with a 10-16 overall record and look to finish off the season with three wins when they host the National Independent Showcase Tournament on Thursday (Mar. 6).

The NCAA Division I Independent Women's Basketball Teams were selected by Sports Information Directors and head coach at member institutions.
