Keelah Wilson begins her third season as an assistant coach with The University of Texas-Pan American women's basketball program.
"Keelah does an outstanding job with our low post players. She's very positive, and our players respond well to her enthusiasm. She's our right arm when it comes to the scouting of our opponents, and her editing of scout tapes is a major undertaking. As an Independent with no built-in conference ties, Keelah's persistence to building a quality video library for UTPA has been a major tool for our staff to be prepared for every game situation," said Craft.
The third-year assistant coach is responsible for assisting with recruiting, organizing game file exchange as well as supervising the team's strength and conditioning programs. A former standout in the low post, Wilson assists with the overall development and coaching of the Lady Bronc post players. She also co-directs the Lady Broncs Hoop Schools and was the director for the UTPA All-Sports Camp in the summer of 2006.
Prior to joining the UTPA women's basketball program, Wilson spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Collin County Community College District, a NJCAA Division I program. In her two-year stint with the Lady Cougars, Wilson was responsible for working with both the forwards and low-post players and played a heavy role in the CCCCD recruiting program.
Wilson was a standout student-athlete for The University of Texas at San Antonio women's basketball program from 1998-00 and played a pivotal role in the success of the Roadrunners. In her final season, Wilson nearly posted a double-double (points-rebounds) after she averaged 14.8 points and 9.1 rebounds per game en route to earning first team All-Southland Conference laurels. She also set the program's single-season blocked shots record (41) and was cited as the team's Most Valuable Player.
Before transferring to UTSA, Wilson played one season at Howard Junior College in 1996-97 followed by a season at Collin County Community College where she led the Lady Cougars in scoring and rebounding.
Wilson earned an associate's degree from Howard Junior College in 1998 and a bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio in 2000.
Wilson currently resides in Edinburg.
