2007 Season [Junior]
The newcomer concluded his first season as a Bronc with 14 total victories, including eight wins in doubles' competition during the 2006-07 season... recorded the majority of his success in doubles' action with teammate Nirvick Mohinta as the UTPA duo posted a 6-5 mark... captured four consecutive victories with Mohinta against Prairie View A&M, University of Connecticut, University of Nebraska and Marist College... defeated Hardin-Simmons doubles' team of Doug Eckstein and Wade Morgan by an 8-1 count... handed Emmanuel Olivier and Andres Medina of Lamar University an 8-2 setback at the number-two doubles' position... won two consecutive matches in singles' competition at the number-one position by defeating opponents from Hardin-Simmons University and Abilene Christian... clinched a three-set victory over Eric Fisher of Nicholls State playing in the number-two position... defeated Rodrigo Morgado and Adam Becker of University of Texas at San Antonio in doubles' competition with teammate David Lopez-Heredia by an 9-7 count... recorded a 6-3, 7-6 victory over Pedro Genovese of Marist College playing at the number-one position...notched a 8-3 win against Pedro Genovese and Federico Rolon of Marist College... defeated Ryan Waters of Hardin -Simmons University by scores of 7-5, 7-6.
2006 Season [Sophomore]
Avila posted a standout season for the Texas Southern during his sophomore campaign where he guided the Tigers to a Southwestern Athletic Conference title and a berth into the NCAA Tournament... recorded an 8-6 record at the number-one singles' position and 15-5 record at the number-one doubles' position en route to earning first team All-SWAC honors
2005 Season [Freshman]
In his first season with Texas Southern, Avila recorded a 4-0 record in doubles' action and 3-1 record in number-one singles' competition in the Southwestern Athletic Conference action.
Prep Career
During his prep career in Mexico City, Mexico, Avila was ranked as high as 18th in the nation during the 2004 season and defeated several Davis Cup performers... held victories over Davis Cup competitors from Cuba, Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador and Nigeria... was a member of the ITF, ATP, FMT and AMTP... was ranked 10th in Mexico in junior tournament action and reached the semifinals in the Futures' Tournament in two consecutive seasons.
