1. How is the team doing without having a head coach early in the season?
SP - "The team is doing well. We are doing the best with what we are given. We don't feel lost with the help of Coach Lopez."
2. What did you do in summer to better yourself in the season?
SP - "I continued to practice and work on different pieces of my game. I would work on my short game."
3. What do you feel is your role on the team this season? SP - "I've stepped and I'm trying to be a leader on the team. We have two seniors on the team and I work with them and try and get organized, so I can be the best leader I can be."
4. What is one thing that you would like to accomplish this year?
SP - "Since the fall season is over, for the spring we want to be in the top three and win some tournaments. We want to be a couple rounds under par as a team."
5. When did you first start playing golf?
SP - "When I was 13, my dad got me into it. I played baseball and golf and my dad just got me to play it more and I fell in love with it."
6. What made you want to play at the collegiate level?
SP - "It was my dream to play collegiate golf. And with the scholarships, it makes you want to play harder."
7. Who has made the biggest impact on your life?
SP - "My dad was my most positive influence. He would help me with my game and help me when I wasn't feeling that great about my game."
8. What has been the biggest challenge for you in your athletic career?
SP - "Coming down to UTPA, it was hard grasping the concept of both collegiate golf and school. You miss out on classes a lot and it's hard keeping up with your studies and what not."
9. What are some of the team goals that the squad has set?
SP - "Coach Lopez gives us incentives. We want to break par as team; our goal is 285 as a team or lower."
10. How do you deal with playing on the road most of the season?
SP - "It's tough but fun because we get to travel. Since we are in the Independent Conference we get to travel all over, which makes it a little hard because it keeps us out of class and we need to stay eligible to play."
