Freshman A.J. Hohn (Stockton, CA/Lodi H.S.) finished tied for ninth at the Boilermaker Invitational after he fired his second 71 of the tournament en route to scoring a three-over 219 on Sunday (Apr. 18) in West Lafayette, IN.

Hohn came into the third round of competition tied for 19th, but recorded one of the lowest rounds at the Boilermaker Invitational and moved up 10 spots in the final standings. He shot a 71 in the first round, 77 in the second set of 18 holes and a third-round total of 71.

As a team, the Broncs were ranked 12th out of 12 teams after the first two rounds of competition, but shot a season-low 292 in round three to surpass Northern Illinois in the final rankings. UTPA finished 11th at the Invitational with a three-round total of 912 and were able to hold a three-stroke advantage over the Huskies, who shot 915.

Junior Craig Berger (Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada/Wetaskiwin Composite H.S.) tied for 34th overall after he shot a final-round total of 74 and finished with a score of 226 (76-76-74).

Kyle Tudi (Phoenix, AZ/Chaparral H.S.) and Jeff Hensley (Van Horn, TX/Van Horn H.S.) both tied for 54th with a three-round score of 234. Hensley fired a 72 over the course of the final 18 holes while Tudi notched a 75 in the round. Colin Norris (Calgary, Alberta, Canada/Cochrane H.S.) shot a 244 (82-80-82) and finished 65th for the tournament.

"I was very pleased with our performance today," said head coach Drew Scott. "A.J. played an incredible three rounds against some of the best competition that we have faced all season and on one of the toughest courses that we'll play. Overall, I was extremely happy that we shot 292 as a team, which is our lowest round of the year."

The University of Missouri (861) captured the Boilermaker Invitational crown while Purdue (869), Illinois (880), Indiana (881) and Wichita State (882) rounded out the top five.

The Broncs will be back in action on Friday (Apr. 22) in Charlottesville, VA, at the Andrea Brotto Cavalier Classic.
