The University of Texas-Pan American men's golf team possesses 12th-place after the first day of competition at the Boilermaker Invitational hosted by Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN, on Saturday (Apr. 16).
A.J. Hohn (Stockton, CA/Lodi H.S.) was the Broncs' top golfer at the conclusion of the first two rounds as the UTPA freshman tied for 19th overall. He fired a first round score of 71 then shot 77 after the second set of 18 holes en route to a four-over 148.
Junior Craig Berger (Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada/Wetaskinwin Composite H.S.) put together identical 76 rounds as he finished tied for 34th with a score of 152. Freshman Kyle Tudi (Phoenix, AZ/Chaparral H.S.) was tied for 60th overall with a score of 159 (80-79) while Jeff Hensley (Van Horn, TX/Van Horn H.S.) and Colin Norris (Calgary, Alberta, Canada/Cochrane H.S.) were both in 64th-place with a two-round total of 162.
The University of Missouri (576) holds a five-shot lead over Indiana University while Purdue, Illinois and Iowa State round out the top five.
The 12-team Boilermaker Invitational will conclude on Sunday (Apr. 17) with the third and final round of competition.
