UTPA junior Paul Stoll (Lansing, MI/Lansing C.C.) was honored as the Co-Independent Newcomer of the Week for the third time this season following the release on Tuesday (Feb. 6).
The Broncs' point guard averaged 11.5 points, 7.5 assists, 3.5 steals and 2.0 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for the UTPA men's basketball team. Stoll posted one of his best all-around games in a UTPA uniform as he finished with 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting to go along with seven assists and seven steals against IPFW on Thursday (Feb. 1).
The UTPA junior came back the following game to collect 13 points, eight assists and zero turnovers in the Broncs' home victory against United Basketball League-foe New Jersey Institute of Technology on Saturday (Feb. 3).
Stoll is currently ranked first among all NCAA Division I Independent players in assists per game (5.6), second in steals per game (2.0) and fifth in three-point field goal percentage (43.0). The UTPA point guard has been a catalyst for a Broncs' squad that is ranked first among all NCAA Division I Independent teams in assists per game (16.3) and fourth in scoring offense (69.8).
